Can a CBD Tincture Help Stop the COVID-19 Virus?

Using a CBD tincture to enjoy the benefits of CBD is one of the most effective methods available on the market. Tinctures are formulated to reach the bloodstream quickly by being introduced to the veins under the tongue and applied sublingually. It is not surprising that by choosing to use a tincture as opposed to most of the other variants of CBD vessels you will get the most out of your product and obtain a higher absorption rate than anything else.

As awesome as high-quality hemp extract tinctures are when it comes to the new discovery that cannabinoids can actually help to stop the COVID-19 virus, they are definitely not as effective as one might think.

CBDA, CBGA, and even THCA all have the potential to block the virus from entering human cells, but these cannabinoids are slightly different from the cannabinoids that we are all used to.

Why? Let’s take a deeper look.

What is CBDA?

CBD has made a lot of buzz around the world ever since anecdotal evidence suggested that it was beneficial for the human body. Although its cousin, THC, has been loved and hated for centuries because of its psychoactive characteristics, CBD on the other hand, does not get people high nor does it cause giggling and munchies.

On the surface, cannabinoids may seem like simple little parts that are found in the cannabis plant and there’s not much to them. However, science has been fascinated by these mysterious compounds for a long time.

In any event, CBD, which is short for cannabidiol, is actually an outstanding byproduct of its origin of CBDA. Cannabidiolic acid, commonly referred to as CBDA, is the original acidic form of the compound before it loses the acidic element and transforms into CBD.

The reason why there is not much conversation about cannabinoids in their acidic state is that they have no visible effects on humans while they are still in acidic form. In order for cannabinoids to affect the human body, they must first be decarboxylated to burn away the acids within the compound.

Processing Hemp Extracts

In order for manufacturers to produce high-quality CBD products such as tinctures and other commonly used commodities, they have to put the product through a series of processes. During the extraction process hemp plants are carefully cut, dried, then heated to a point that transforms the current acidic state of the cannabinoids into the states that we are all familiar with. CBD, CGD, THC…and so on.

Although many CBD products are sold as a CBD tincture, softgel, or whatever form it comes in, if the product is a full-spectrum product there will always be a small trace of THC in it.

In any event, most of the hemp extract products that are on the market have been processed in a way that removes the original form of the cannabinoid and transforms it into compounds that have an obvious effect on humans.

This is exactly why when a person eats raw hemp or marijuana they do not feel the effects of the cannabinoids. In fact, if a person was to eat a large amount of fresh, raw, marijuana they would not get ‘high.”

Whenever cannabis, in any form, is processed for the general market it is processed in a way that changes it from its natural state.

Why Processed Hemp Products Will Not Work for COVID-19

When the researchers ran tests and experiments with common cannabinoids and the effects that they have on the SARS-CoV-2 virus the results that they found were with cannabinoid acids before they had been converted.

The study that they conducted showed that CBDA and CBGA were able to attach to certain spike proteins on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus cells. It is because of this attachment that the cannabinoids prevented the entry of the live virus into cells.

Furthermore, these cannabinoid acids were effective in preventing other variants of the virus to spread. This news clearly suggests that the cannabinoids that many government agencies considered dangerous are keys to the solution of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In any event, the tests were run with the cannabinoids in their original acidic state. Hemp products that have been processed for human use have been decarboxylated and no longer are in their original acidic form.

Smoking Cannabis is Ineffective for Fighting COVID-19

Although there are millions of people that would love to hear that smoking marijuana will cure COVID-19, this is not the case. Whenever a person smokes cannabis they are heating the components up to an extremely high degree that would not allow even a slight amount of acidic cannabinoids to enter the system. In fact, if a person is infected with the virus they should not smoke anything because they would be compromising their already struggling lungs. As COVID-19 attacks the lungs it causes inflammation from the inside outward. Inhaling thick smoke directly into the inflamed lungs will only cause more problems.

CBDA and CBGA Tinctures

As the promise of hope continues to grow out of the possibility that cannabinoid acids can defeat the stubborn virus it is expected that many of the hemp manufacturing companies will alter some of their methods in order to create a type of tincture that will host the cannabinoids that will be most effective for treating and controlling COVID-19.

One of the most efficient ways that manufacturers extract hemp oil from the hemp plant is by way of supercritical carbon dioxide. The hemp solids are drawn into a chamber where they mix with carbon dioxide in its supercritical state. A combination of just the right pressure with exposure to temperatures that are no higher than 88 degrees Fahrenheit forces carbon dioxide to turn into its liquid form.

This type of extraction process will be instrumental in creating tinctures that will keep the cannabinoids in their acidic states. There is no excessive heat, and the end result produces no toxic wastes or dangerous gasses for the environment.

This is good news because at some time in the future hemp product manufacturers will be able to create a tincture that just might have the potential to change the world.

Conclusion

Although this discovery is still brand new,  there is so much noise around the internet regarding the possibility of cannabinoids being able to stop COVID-19 it is impossible for enthusiastic entrepreneurs to avoid the incredible opportunity that lies before them.

Most of the professionals that are in the hemp business have strong scientific backgrounds and know how to manipulate the structure of their products. One variant of a tincture could be for reducing stress, while another variant can be for stopping a deadly virus.

People will misunderstand this information and try to abuse it in one way or another, but the ones who truly understand cannabinoids and the way that they work with the human body will come up with viable solutions that will benefit all of us.

It may still have a long way to go, but the importance of hemp has just taken an incredible leap ahead. Hopefully, it won’t take long for the rest of the people around to see how truly amazing and useful cannabinoids are for human beings and pets alike.
